The Guidance Office

Welcome from the Director of Guidance

Welcome to the Guidance Center at Archbishop Ryan High School. It is a pleasure to be working with the students at Ryan as they strive to discern their educational and personal goals in becoming responsible adults. The Guidance staff is here to foster a supportive environment for students in order for them to recognize their interests, abilities, and educational needs. Counselors encourage students to see the importance of responsible learning m the classes here as a basis for life now and in the future. Our hope is that students will understand and accept themselves as unique individuals.

Each student is interviewed each academic year. We encourage students to stop by the Guidance office during their lunch periods. An appointment with a counselor can be made by completing a Guidance Request slip available outside of the Guidance office.

Please feel free to contact the Guidance office with any questions you may have or if any concerns arise about your child during the school year.

The Guidance Center seeks to help students understand and accept themselves.  Counselors encourage students to see the importance of responsible learning in classes as a basis for life in the future,

The Guidance Center assists students:

  • To know their abilities, aptitudes, interests, and educational needs
  • To research education and career opportunities
  • To discern how to grow academically and personally
  • To learn problem- solving, decision making. Human relations, and goal-setting skills

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of counseling.  However, when a student’s or other’s health and/or safety is at stake, a counselor’s duty is to reveal information to the appropriate person.
