U.S. History (Period 2)

Course Description

Our U.S. History course begins with the age of Jackson and the birth of the Democratic party and ends with recent events like 911. In general, political theory, philosophy, and economics are all emphasized whilst much time is spent discussing the experience of the individual. Though much of the constitutional issues/questions/discussion is included in the Sophomore curriculum, a number of important legislative topics are also included in the U.S. History course.

The course was designed to focus on larger themes in American history. Historical thinking skills are emphasized throughout the year. Take a look at the College Board's Overview of Historical Thinking standards.
