Spanish 2 (Period 2)
Course Description
Course Overview:
Spanish II picks up where Spanish I left off last year. Students will expand their vocabulary and learn many new grammar structures. We will be covering many topics and the students will practice their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their Spanish this year. They will be responsible for creating and presenting conversations on different topics as well as creating different projects that demonstrate what they have learned. They will also be exposed to different aspects of Hispanic culture and history.
Materials:
Textbook, notebook and a folder
Grading System:
The following are the components of my grading system:
Tests- at least 3 major tests per quarter
Quizzes (vocabulary and grammar)
Projects- at least 1 per quarter
Conversations- topics vary depending on lesson
Homework
The grade is determined by taking the number of points the student has earned and dividing that number by the total number of points in the marking period. Homework will be accepted one day late for half credit. After one day, it will not be accepted. If a project is late, 10 points will be deducted per day for lateness. Not being prepared for class will have a negative impact on the overall grade.
Technology:
Students’ grades for tests, quizzes, homework assignments, class work and projects will be posted on www.adphila.gradeconnect.com. It is updated daily.
The Spanish textbook can be accessed on-line at my.hrw.com. The students have usernames and passwords for this site. If a student forgets a username or password, I keep a copy in class. I also have created a Wikispace page for class. Notes and other important information will be posted on the site.
I have created an educational social networking site for this class. It is completely private and everything that is posted on the site must be approved by me before it appears. This site and others that we will use will help the students practice their Spanish skills. Everything we do will be educational and will adhere to the technology standards of the Archdiocese.
