Description

Honors Theology IV is divided into two distinct courses: History of the Catholic Church and Responding to the Call of Jesus

In the first semester, students will gain a general knowledge of the Church’s history from apostolic times to the present.  They will be introduced to the fact that the Church was founded by Christ through the Apostles and is sustained by him throughout history through the Holy Spirit.  The students will come to know that the Church is the living Body of Christ today and, as such, has both divine and human elements.  In this course, students will learn about the Church’s 2,000 years of history and about how the Church is led and governed by the successors of the Apostles.

The purpose of the second semester course is to help students to understand the vocations of life and how Christ calls us to live.  In this course, students will explore how all vocations are similar and how they differ.  This course is structured around married life, single life, priestly life, and consecrated life.  Students will come to a greater understanding of what it means to live life for the benefit of others and the value in considering a vocation in service to the Christian community.
