AR Boys' Basketball

A strong, rich tradition of fundamentally sound and winning basketball exists here at Archbishop Ryan.  The Raiders are a perennial Philadelphia Catholic League contender, not only winning games and but also executing a consistent system of team basketball and hard work through its Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity programs.The tradition of Archbishop Ryan Basketball is strong through its past coaches, alumni and current players. 
In his 5 years as Head Coach,  Joe Zeglinski and the Raiders boast a record of 83-47. The team has reached the PCL Final Four at UPenn's Palestra 3 out of 5 seasons. The 2016-17 team has the best winning % in school history going 23-6 and reached the PIAA 6A State Final Four. Over the past four years, the program has had the NE Times Player and Coach of the year 4 times. In 2019-20, the team made the PCL final upsetting the #2 seed Bishop Mcdevitt and went on to the quarterfinal of the 5A State Tournament. The team was primed to make a run at Hershey when the season was shutdown before that qtrfinal game.

The team takes a trip every year and in 2018-19 and 19-20 season, the team visited Ryan Alumni and Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Mooney of University of Richmond. The team Plays in the BCCC tournament in Richmond the week after Christmas, one of the most decorated tournaments in the country.
