The hustle and bustle of daily life is often filled with noise. A retreat is an opportunity to step back from this routine by spending quality time with the Lord in order to discern His voice speaking to us in the silence of our hearts. An in-school retreat is provided for each class during the academic year.

Kairos Retreats

Kairos, the Greek word meaning the "right time," - or in theology “the appointed time in the purpose of God” - is an intensive three-day retreat where Ryan Seniors open themselves up to God's love as well as the love of their family and friends. These students have the option of making this retreat - it is not mandatory. Over the years it has become very popular among the students and continues to be one of the highlights of Senior year.

The spirit of the retreat is one of acceptance and love. Kairos is an opportunity to grow in relationship with God, self, and others. The retreatants come to recognize God's presence in all things: in music, nature, family, friendships, and especially Sacred Scripture and the Sacraments. The Kairos retreat is based upon the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola and is specifically adapted for high school.

He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."
